No. 5 Syracuse field hockey celebrates Senior Night and tops Colgate, 5-1
On Senior Night, No. 5 Syracuse field hockey delivered a decisive 5-1 win over Colgate, a perfect backdrop for honoring the eight seniors and rad students who have shaped the program with their leadership and passion.
“Proud of them all. They each bring something really unique and special to the program. It’s big shoes to fill. I think while we have them, we’re going to embrace everything they bring, from the laughter, to the jokes, to the intensity, to the pretty hockey. I think they’re still growing every day, and they’re blossoming; it’s a good group,” Orange head coach Lynn Farquhar said.
“The eight, they’re all huge pieces, so we’re going to roll with this season and do as much as we can, and we’ll figure out the future later.”
Two grad students found the back of the net, as well as three freshmen — a clear passing of the torch.
“Ironically we had a lot of seniors contribute and our freshman, which I think speaks highly of what our seniors have been able to do and the work our freshman have put in to catch up and keep the tempo high,” Farquhar added.
The Orange improve to 8-0 in nonconference play, their first undefeated regular season against nonconference opponents since 2016. The Cuse now travel to the Golden State to play ACC-opponents Stanford and California and first faces off against the Cardinal at 8 Eastern. Reporting from J.S. Coyne Stadium, Sydney Chan, CitrusTV.
