Syracuse Men’s Soccer opens ACC play with thrilling 3-2 loss to No. 8 Stanford

Tonight, Syracuse men’s soccer entered a matchup with number eight Stanford having scored just one goal in its last three games. But after Chimere Omeze’s strike in the 75th minute, the orange were ahead two to one and on the cusp of a season altering win. A victory that would have given SU a 1-0 start in conference start in conference play and made Ian McIntyre the winningest head coach in program history. The Cardinals stormed back, scored two goals in the game’s final 12 minutes and the hunt for 142 remains.

I think we had a couple things that went against us tonight. That’s to take nothing away from Stanford. They’re a worthy opponent. I think we deserve something better. A lot of positives but still hurting and it will for a few days.

Syracuse continues its ACC gauntlet next Friday when it heads south to take on Duke. Kickoff is set for 7o’clock. Reporting from SU Soccer Stadium, Adam Hipsky, CitrusTV.
