Syracuse Tennis dominates Cornell 7-1 in its season opener

Syracuse Tennis dominated Cornell 7-0 in its season opener

Early season play for teams usually means they’re relying on their returners. But in Syracuse, Tennis’ 7-0 domination over Cornell, it was actually the new players that showed out.

Sophomore Haram Kim finished her singles match 30 minutes before the second one ended, and Head Coach Younes Limam talked about Kim’s position going into the season.

“Yeah, a lot of, I think, a lot of maturity, a lot of having one season under her belt always helps. So I think she, she did a terrific job going into her court and really taking care of business. We were expecting a little bit to the nerves, obviously, it’s the first match, but really handled it like a champ.”, Limam said’

Last year, Kim spent her season right here on the bench, playing in just two singles matches, but went 2-0. Now, with seniors Miyuka Kimoto and Shiori Ito graduated, she’s going to have the opportunity to step up big time.

The Orange welcome in three additional newcomers with their six returners, one of them Princeton grad student Lenna Bonnetto. She picked up a win in her singles match today, and the two of them with the rest of the Syracuse team will look to keep it going when we’re right back here at Drumlins tomorrow at 11am against Fordham.
