In Tuesday’s rout of Central New York foe Colgate (4-5, 0-0 Patriot), Syracuse Women’s Basketball head coach Felisha Legette-Jack went as far into her bench as possible.
All 15 SU players entered the 88-42 win over the Raiders, which handed the Orange (9-1, 1-0 Atlantic Coast) their fourth straight win. The ‘Cuse is 7-0 at home.
“It gives me a chance to get some sleep tonight,” Legette-Jack said postgame. “You want that to happen. That’s what you bring them here for, to play this game. It doesn’t always happen that way.”
“Today, with everybody playing as well as they did, it’s going to be a good night in the Jack household.”
Point guard Dominique Darius — among SU’s leading scorers entering the day — didn’t score a point until late in the fourth quarter. She did, however, contribute 10 assists, smashing her previous career high of six.
“I was telling my teammates that I was just going to facilitate today,” Darius said. “I just want to help them get their shots and get them going.”
“She wasn’t even trying to score, she was just so involved with making certain for the other people,” Legette-Jack said. “Sometimes, as a point guard, you have to feed the animal. She’s a winner.”
Syracuse takes almost a full week off before its next game. SU has another in-state clash Tuesday against Binghamton. Tipoff in that game is set for 7 p.m. Follow @CitrusTVSports on X for updates.
