Hendricks Chapel’s Annual Food Drive

By Sammy Lindell

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – This year has thrown Syracuse University many curveballs, including planning events such as the Hendricks chapel pantry drive. In a normal year, the Syracuse community could be found donating supplies to the chapel’s pantries located on both main campus and south campus, but now the fundraiser has been moved online.

Donating to Hendrick’s chapel starts today until the end of April, and is being led by Forever Orange Student Alumni Council and the Generation Orange Leadership Council. People can donate money online through the Syracuse Website or drop off food at the Chapell. Those who donate are contributing to allowing students access to a healthier and more active lifestyle.

Patrick Penfield, a student leader, has been encouraging students to get involved with the fundraiser, as he has worked to spread the word about the work that is taking place.

Victoria Bialczak is the student director for the fundraiser and encourages seniors to donate $20.21–their graduation year–to get a tassel for graduation.

Syeisha Byrd, the pantry drive director, hopes that people donate to the cause to better students’ health and well-being. She also would like to let students know that they should feel comfortable going down to the pantry if they need to pick up any supplies; her door is always open.
