Pittsburgh, P.A. – They might not have led for most of the game, or really any of it, but Syracuse Women’s Basketball robbed Pittsburgh of a win with a comeback in the last two minutes for a 67-65 victory.

Teisha Hyman accounted for nearly half the Orange points with 31 on the afternoon. The sophomore guard shot 10/17 from the field and grabbed seven rebounds. It was her best performance since she put up 22 points and eight rebounds against Notre Dame.

Alaysia Styles was the other half the powerful pair. She put up 21 points on 5/9 shooting. This was easily her best shooting game of the year as she cracked 20 points for the first time this season. Styles and Hyman combined to put up 52 of the Orange’s 67 points Sunday afternoon.

While SU had probably its best fourth quarter this season, outscoring the Panthers 18-9, the rebounding woes were still a big problem. The Orange got outrebounded by the Panthers 47-33. The Cuse haven’t tied on the boards since January 13th against Louisville or won since January 9th against Duke. In the past month the team has been outrebounded 356-221 overall in games since then.

Passed the two starters who combined for 52 points, no one else really came to play. In fact, Naje Murray and Christianna Carr didn’t even hit a field goal during the game. They both shot a whopping zero percent from the field. Christianna did hit four free throws to clean up her box score a little bit. Unfortunately, Naje dropped her first, and what she hopes to be last, goose-egg of the season.

The Orange are now on a nice little two-game win streak. They have won three of their last five, and look to have turned the corner after that six-game losing streak. They’ll welcome the Florida State Seminoles to the dome on Tuesday night for a makeup game. The original game was postponed from January 2nd. The two teams will tipoff at 6PM.
