When Syracuse men’s soccer suffered its first loss of the season to Virginia, the Orange then went on the road and dominated Virginia Tech 3-0. After a loss to No. 22 Cornell on Tuesday, an even more impressive bounce back performance took place when No. 7 Syracuse took down No. 4 Wake Forest 2-0 at home. For head coach Ian McIntyre, these efforts show the belief his squad has in 2022.

“We’ve had a group that in the past for these games, probably the past couple of years, was hoping to get a result. The difference tonight was that we have a group that believed and expected they were going to get a result. That means we are moving in the right direction,” McIntyre said after the game.

Midfielder Amferny Sinclair added, “I think it just comes from the mentality. We knew that last game we did not have the best performance, but it’s always important to look up for the next game and look up for the future. That is what we did. We tried to forget about it, learn from our mistakes, and just bounce back. It all comes from the mentality and unity of the group.”

With the win, Syracuse remains undefeated at home against Wake Forest. Next up for the Orange, Loyola pays a visit to the SU Soccer Stadium at 6 p.m. on Monday.
