Colgate Men’s Basketball Shoots the Lights out in an 80-68 Win against Syracuse

Colgate shot the lights out in an 80-68 win against Syracuse. The Raiders set a Dome record with 19 three-pointers made.

Head Coach Jim Boeheim said his zone defense wasn’t getting enough pressure around the arc.

“The major mistake we made at the end of the first half was letting their best shooter shoot three threes. That’s something we’ve always prided ourselves on not letting that happen. The times we made them put it on the floor, something good happened. But letting him (Tucker Richardson) or Lynch shoot standing still, they’re going to make those. We have to get them off their spots,” Boeheim said.

Team captain Joe Girard III said Colgate’s squad is built to beat the zone.

“They are always looking for and taking the best shot. They have a lot of shooters for the three-point shot. That’s the best way to beat a zone. It’s on us to move better and find the shooters,” Girard said.

The Orange will look to bounce back against Northeastern on Saturday at 4 p.m.
