Newton, MA- The Syracuse Men’s Soccer team (7-5-4, 2-4-2 Atlantic Coast) came into Friday night very optimistic that it would host an ACC Tournament game.

After their last match, a defeat over No. 23 NC State, some members of the team said it would not be the last time they played at SU Soccer Stadium this season.

Unfortunately for the Orange, they fell 2-1 to Boston College (8-4-3, 2-4-2 Atlantic Coast) in New England. The loss means that, barring a Virginia Tech upset in the ACC Tournament, the ‘Cuse have played their final home game of the season.

With the defeat, SU will finish conference play with eight points and in the bottom half of the ACC table.

Early in the game, it looked like Syracuse might come out on top, out-shooting the Eagles by six at the half.

SU’s Ryan Raposo even scored the first goal of the game in the 34th minute. It was the sophomore’s 13th goal of the season.

It even looked like Syracuse might have the win on lock when BC’s Joe Kellett was issued a red card.

The Eagles, however, rallied and tied the game off an Amos Shapiro-Thompson goal just a minute after Syracuse went a man up.

The Orange did not keep that man up advantage all game. Nyal Higgins was issued his second yellow card and a red card in the 72nd minute, prompting his ejection.
With ten on each side, Boston College took the lead for good on a Mike Suski goal in the 78th minute in a 2-1 final score.

Next up for the Orange will be the first round of the ACC tournament. The team will enter as the No. 10 seed and face off against No. 7 seed UNC on November 5th.
