Destiny Mall Hosts Annual Halloween Spook-A-Thon Benefiting Make a Wish CNY
SYRACUSE N.Y. (CITRUSTV NEWS) — Destiny Mall hosted their annual Halloween Spook-A-Thon on Friday (October 31), featuring events like trick or treating, Halloween movie screenings and a costume contest for prizes. However, the main event was “Pumpkin Chucking.”
Pumpkins were dropped down from the third floor of the Canyon in the mall, falling into a pile of hay and creating a show for those around to see. Many guests shared positive experiences with the event, expressing how fun it was to watch a pumpkin explode on the ground from the impact of the drop.
One guest found herself comically frustrated after her attempt didn’t go as planned, saying “Mine didn’t explode! I picked a big one.”
The price to drop a pumpkin was $5, and all proceeds went to Make-a-Wish Central New York.
Make-a-Wish CNY is based in Onondaga County, and helps those in the following counties: St. Lawrence, Jefferson, Lewis, Oneida, Oswego, Cayuga, Tompkins, Cortland, Tioga, Broome, Chenango, Ostego, Madison and Herkimer.
There were many guests in attendance, and even more in costume. From bananas, to superheroes, to inflatable chickens, the costumes were definitely sights to see. Many younger guests were happy to share their costumes with CitrusTV. 3 young guests were dressed as a military pilot, a mailwoman, and a blue beetle.
The event itself was sponsored by Tim’s Pumpkin Patch as well as the Syracuse Police Department. It served as an indoor trick or treating location for citizens in the area looking to beat the rain.
