SYRACUSE, N.Y (CITRUSTV NEWS) — With Election Day right around the corner, the Everson Museum hosted to the final mayoral forum Thursday (Oct. 28) for the four candidates: Democrat Sharon Owens, Republican Thomas Babilon and Independent candidates Timothy Rudd and Alfonso Davis.

Events like these serve as an effective way to canvass what each candidate has in store for the future of Syracuse and allow the public audience to ask the burning questions they have about the future of their city.

“I would say the most important topic is housing. If people in this city had a warm place to go, especially in the wintertime, and had a roof over their head, I think we would have a safer and happier city,” explained Syracuse Retiree Jim Schults.

Equally as important is the opportunity for the public to participate in local politics.

“It’s really the place where a resident has the chance to see the most immediate change or to see electoral politics working for them, ” said Central Current Government and Politics Reporter Patrick McCarthy.

With Mayor Ben Walsh wrapping up his second term as mayor, the future of Syracuse lies in the palms of one of these four candidates. Election Day falls next Tuesday (Nov. 4).
