Halloween Organ Concert Helps Donate To Church Community
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (CITRUSTV NEWS) — Logan Blackman found his passion for playing the organ when he watched a Pirates of the Caribbean at the age of 12. Ever since, he has been studying the intricate 500-piece instrument and learning how to play.
This weekend, he hosted a Halloween organ concert at St. David’s Episcopal Church showcasing famous organ pieces, including the theme from the Phantom of the Opera and the song that started it all: the Davy Jones Theme.
However, the concert wasn’t all just about Halloween fun. Attendees of the concert made donations that went towards the struggling church community.
“Saint David’s has a lot of needs…the main thing that this particular donation goes for is supporting the music program and outreach programs…community service kinds of things,” said St. David’s Sherry Tyler, Vestry.
Tyler says she hopes that Saint David’s can continue to use music to support the church and create more community support.
