Course Registration Begins for Spring 2022

By Dillon Brendle

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Course Registration is well underway for students at Syracuse University.  S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications Director of Advising Suzanne Maguire says she often sees students who are nervous and stressed around the time of course selection. Those feelings are particularly present among first year students.

First year student Rachel Kelly said she has not had much time to think about course selection because she has had three tests this week. That sparked questions about whether or not now, mid way through the semester, is the best time to be doing course registration. At a time when the fall semester is becoming most rigorous, some students say they do not want to be thinking about the spring semester. Syracuse Junior Russell Tom Sun says he wishes he could have had his courses scheduled back in September. That way he could feel more secure now that classes are getting more work intensive.

Newhouse Director of Advising Suzanne Maguire wants to remind students that course selection is not a sprint, it’s a marathon. Course registration began for Seniors on November 3rd and will be open all the way until January 25th. She also emphasized that students often make changes to their schedule over Thanksgiving break and that students should look to find the classes they were not originally able to register for.
