Live at 6 | Spring Break
By Sunny Balkin – Syracuse, N.Y. (CitrusTV) – With publications like Forbes and U.S News releasing their 2018 Top Spring Break Destinations, CitrusTV News went out to see how Syracuse University student’s Spring Break plans compare.
With places like Honolulu at the top of Forbes’s list, most students expect to see some of their peers heading to warm destinations for the week. However, what we found was quite different.
Out of the eight students interviewed, every single one of them planned to just go home this Spring Break.
Sophomore Abby Vogt claimed one of the main reasons students decided not to go on a trip this year was because of money.
“I would love to go away, but it’s so expensive,” she said. “That’s my one problem with it.”
When asked where they would go if they could go away, Vogt and fellow student Mary Armstrong both claimed that they wanted to escape the frigid Syracuse air by going someplace warm like Mexico.
“A lot of my friends are going to Cancun,” Armstrong said. “I wish I was going…but I will be stuck in cold Syracuse.”
Despite many Syracuse students going home this Spring Break, destinations like Miami Beach and Punta Cana continue to be hotspots for those who decided to splurge on a trip. Both places were among the other top Spring Break destinations included in U.S. News Spring Break travel report.
