The Class of 2020 and 2021 React to Commencement News

By Sammy Lindell

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Chancellor Kent Syverud announced yesterday that graduation for both the class of 2020 and 2021 will be held in the Dome, but whether guests will be allowed is unclear at this time.

Syracuse University will host in-person Commencement activities on May 22 and 23 for the class of 2021. Another Commencement ceremony will also be held on Sunday, September 19, for the Class of 2020. I spoke to students from both of the classes to get their thoughts and concerns.

Sarah Grinnell, Class of 2021, has hope that students and parents will be vaccinated, making bringing parents to Commencement possible.

Peyton Spotelli, a Syracuse University 2020 graduate is looking forward to coming back for the ceremony, as she recalled her virtual ceremony last year.

More information is to come soon regarding the amount of guests a student can have, if any at all.
