The Syracuse Sport Business Conference Launches at SU

By Teagan Brown

SYRACUSE, NY – The Syracuse Sports Business conference is taking place on April 15 and 16 through virtual platforms. The event was originally planned to be in person last year at Turning Stone but COVID-19 shut down everything just weeks prior.

Students will have the opportunity to learn from professionals in the sports industry. Some of these names include Taylor Rooks, Liz Claman, and Leigh Steinberg.

Both days of the conference will begin with a career fair where multiple companies will be present to meet with those trying to break into the sports industry. Following this is when the panels of speakers will talk in the zoom webinar format.

The President and co-founder of the conference, Ben Alon, wanted to give those interested in the field the chance to learn.

“When we started we set the objective to create an intimate setting where students can learn the business of sports in an educational environment that creates career growth” he said

This event is not just for those studying sports marketing, it’s for anyone interested in the industry who may want to be involved one day.

The Conference’s vice president of outreach, Danielle Parr, wants people to know that everyone is welcome.

“We’re really trying to reach any young aspiring professional whether they’re still in school or they’re recently graduated who thinks they might want to work in the sports industry, already does, just anyone who has even a passing interest in sports and the business of sports.” she said.

There are multiple teams that work together to put on this conference including marketing, social media management, and sponsorship teams. Although “Syracuse” is in their name, they are not associated with Syracuse University.

The leadership team does everything proudly as their own organization. If anyone is interested in joining the organization, SSBC is open to it and they will be accepting applications following the conference.

You can register through their link in bio on Twitter and Instagram. They can be found @SSBConference on both platforms.
