7th Syracuse Women’s Lacrosse is riding a three-game win streak. After struggling at points earlier in the season. SU’s offense has been unstoppable over the last week. Over the last three contests, the Orange have scored 55 goals. SU has also outscored its opponents by nearly 60. The CUSE are starting to play their best lacrosse of the season as we pass the halfway point. So you might be wondering. What exactly has led to the offensive explosion?

It might be a simple answer, but it has been sharing the ball. After Syracuse’s win vs UAlbany on Tuesday, head coach Kayla Treanor said that the Orange’s style of offense is predicated on getting everyone involved. The Orange have a top twenty offense in the country without a single goalscorer ranked inside the top 30. In their recent midweek win against the Great Danes Syracuse had eight different goal scores. Four of those scores managed to net a hat-trick. This offensive depth is what makes the Orange very dangerous. Players like Emma Tyrrell have talked about how clueing in on one player is not an option because it allows other players to beat you. For example, freshman Joely Caramelli has started to come into her own. The midfielder has managed to score a goal in three straight games.

While different players can score, Syracuse still has its top players. The catalyst has been Olivia Adamson. The junior seems to find a way to make plays in every game. The attacker leads the team with 27 goals and 40 total points. The Florida native is on pace to smash her career-high of 31 goals in 2022. Another player that has been great on offense is Emma Tyrrell. The grad student started the season slowly. The New York native only posted six goals in the first four games. However, since then, she has looked like the player people expected. The midfielder has scored a hat-trick in four of the last five contests. Tyrrell is now up to 23 goals. That is the second most on the team. Now, Emma Tyrrell is not the only Emma on the team. Do not forget about Emma Ward. The grad student was the quarterback of the offense last year. Ward finished the 2023 season with the third most assists in the country. This year, she has taken on the same role. Ward is the player who is constantly behind the cage distributing the ball. The grad student leads the team with 18 assists. That number puts her top 30 in the nation. Also, Ward has scored 18 goals this year, showing that the grad student is a Swiss army knife for Syracuse. The New York native can do it all on the offensive side of the ball.

While Syracuse is playing well, the schedule does not get easier. SU plays number 9 Virginia in Charlottesville on Saturday before returning home to play number 8 Loyola. Make sure to follow Citrus TV for all coverage of the team.
