No. 24 SU Surrenders Early Lead, Draws No. 11 Louisville

LOUISVILLE, KY. – No. 24 Syracuse  (6-4-2, 1-3-1 Atlantic Coast) drew No. 11 Louisville (7-2-3, 3-1-2) 2-2 on the road Friday night after the Orange squandered an early 2-0 lead.

Sophomore forward Tajon Buchanan scored both goals for the Orange increasing his point total to 14 and taking over the team lead from forward Ryan Raposo. Kamal Miller assisted Buchanan’s second goal, the first goal was unassisted. It was Buchanan’s second multi-goal game of the year.

SU scored the first two goals of the game, but the Cardinals scored on a corner kick in the 42nd minute to cut the deficit before half. In the 57th minute Louisville drew a penalty kick and converted to equalize.

In the extra periods both sides garnered some scoring opportunities, Jonathan Hagman hit the post in the 98th minute and the Cardinals nearly scored on another corner kick in the 100th minute. No one placed a shot on goal in the second overtime.

The Orange return to the SU Soccer Stadium for its final non-conference game of the year on Tuesday, Oct. 16 against St. Bonaventure. Start time is set for 7 p.m.
