BOSTON, MA – There are “must-wins,” and then there are “must-destroys.” This was a must-destroy for SU, and it did exactly that. The Orange (19–4, 9–3 ACC) traveled to Conte Forum and took care of Boston College (4–21, 0–12 ACC), a team still searching for its first conference win.

Early on, BC actually kept it close and trailed by just seven heading into the second quarter, but that’s when the Orange kicked it into gear. The ’Cuse went on a 19–5 run in the second quarter to pull away. From then on, it was all but taken care of.

A couple of key Orange performances made this an easy win. Center Uche Izoje dropped 18 points with eight rebounds, what’s new? Guard Laila Phelia added 11 points on an efficient 3-for-5 from downtown. But the most important outing came from guard Dominique Darius, who recorded a near triple-double: 10 points, 10 assists, and seven rebounds. It was just another performance that will stand out when looking back on Darius’ season.

With SU winning comfortably for the majority of the game, Coach Jack played all 14 active players, and every single one of them scored.

“Everyone got to score, which was really cool,” said Maddy Potts. “We all worked together, it was a complete game that we’ve been working toward.”

Potts had herself a career night, scoring 12 points on four three-pointers. The sophomore has played in just 14 games this season but took full advantage of her 14 minutes against BC.

“When you get a chance to get out there, you want to make the most of it and have fun, and that’s what I did,” said Potts.

The Orange hope this win builds momentum heading into what may be their toughest challenge of the season. No. 6 Louisville is next on the docket this Super Bowl Sunday. The Cardinals are the only ACC team averaging over 80 points per game this year.
