Syracuse men’s soccer knocks off Colgate 3-0

HAMILTON, N.Y. – Syracuse men’s soccer (4-3, 0-2 in ACC) returned to non-conference play for a battle against Colgate (1-4-2, 0-1 in PL).
Throughout the first half, SU put shots on the board, but struggled to get golden opportunities. The Orange totaled just five shots and one on goal in the first half. For the Raiders, it was more of the same. Colgate had its best opportunity in the 31st minute when Cole Ramey ripped a shot on goal, but ‘Cuse goalkeeper Juan Martinez-Bastidas made an incredible kick save to his right to keep the game scoreless.
Syracuse came out of the gate firing in the second half. In the 47th minute, Chimere Omeze struck for his first goal of the season off the feed from Ivan Irinimbabazi and Gabriel Oksanen. Another opportunity came for SU when a penalty was issued to Colgate inside the box, but SU’s Nathan Scott failed to score on a penalty kick.

The Raiders scored in the 80th minute, however the goal was called off after VAR review after it was ruled that Cole Ramey committed a foul inside of the box.
The Orange added one more goal when Kelvin Da Costa had a breakaway in the 89th minute to extend the lead to three.
