Louisville, Ky – Syracuse softball (18-22, 4-14 Atlantic Coast Conference) falls to number 25 Louisville (40-10, 17-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) 5-1 Saturday afternoon. Unlike game one, the Cardinals threw the first punch right.

After the ‘Cuse didn’t score in the top of the first, Louisville responded with two runs. The Cardinals scored on a sacrifice fly to right field from Camryn Lookadoo and a two-out RBI single from Madison Pickens. However, those two runs would be the only action until the sixth inning.

SU cut the lead in half on a single through the left side of the infield from Kaimi Tulua that scored Jadyn Burney. But, Louisville responded and put the nail in the coffin in the bottom half.

The Cardinals scored three runs to grow the lead to 5-1. Pickens struck again with a single down the left field line that scored a run. But the dagger came when Ava Venturelli singled home two runs to left center field with two outs in the inning.

In the circle, Madison Knight got the for SU. The senior pitched all six innings after giving up four earned runs without getting an out on Friday. On the other side, Madi Reeves dazzled with a complete game. Reeves struck out six hitters, allowed six hits, and the one run the ‘Cuse scored was unearned. Overall, Syracuse out-hit Louisville 6-5 in the game.
