#5 Syracuse Women’s Lacrosse Falls to #12 Stony Brook

By: Rahill Jaiswal

Big-time players, make big-time plays. It was on that goal there where Stony Brook midfielder Ellie Masera slid to one knee and put one home to give the Seawolves a 13-12 overtime win over the Orange. After the game head coach Kayala Treanor could only tip her hat to the senior.

That kid just plays really hard, you know. She plays really hard all over the field in the midfield on the offense, defensively. I mean she definitely has more of an offense role for them. But you know, she had nine draw controls. You know if the ball is on the ground she’s really good. She clears the ball for them. And at the end of the game that’s who they went to and she made it happen both times you know, she played really well tonight.

And on the goal we have such smart players like Morgan Mitchell and obviously, they attacked in the first half and second half and she had how many, I don’t even know how many, she was incredible. Finny like, the pressure was kind of more toward them so it opened up for me but it could have been anyone honestly.

Syracuse has now lost two overtime games this season against ranked opponents at home in overtime. SU looks to get back in the win column on Saturday when it travels to take on Virginia Tech. The opening draw is set for noon.
