Dyaisha Fair Eclipses 3,000 Career Points in Historic Comeback

By Andrew Della Piana | @dellie_5

This bucket helped to a historic Sunday at the JMA Wireless Dome. Let’s begin with Dyaisha Fair, who has surpassed 3,000 career points. She became the 16th player in Division 1 women’s basketball history to do so. What’s better, her team came back from a 19-point deficit to beat Clemson 83-82 tonight. The victory, however, is sweeter for Fair and her fellow teammates than the achievement itself.

“I had to snap out of it after the first half and just do whatever was needed for my team and, more importantly, for Coach Jack because of the day so we always say let’s win the day and practice and keeping you know that purple ribbon that some of us are wearing on our shirts in the back of my mind it was to do whatever I could to win the day.”

“We knew that we needed Dyaisha to win that game and we feed a lot through her and she always steps up and that’s credit to her.”

“I’m just so grateful and humble that today is the day that we’re celebrating and  tomorrow is the day that we look forward to with anticipation.”

Today’s comeback was the biggest in Felisha Legette Jack’s career. If this sounds familiar, it’s because Syracuse overcame a 14-point deficit against Cornell in early December. The Orange are currently 10 and 0 inside the JMA Wireless Dome. SU will go for 11 against No. 21 Florida State on Thursday. The Seminoles have the ACC’s second best offense.
