SYRACUSE, N.Y. — It was a fantastic senior day victory at The TIP Saturday afternoon as Syracuse beat Lindenwood 4-3. Victoria Klimek scored the game winner, and Head Coach Paul Flanagan says she’s been on fire as of late.
“I just think her mindset. She just had her feet going. I don’t know. She put in different batteries or something today. She just had her feet going. And, she legitimately could’ve had 4 or 5 goals,” Head Coach Paul Flanagan said.
“I think just staying composed in the d-zone, not being puck-focused, watching their players and what they’re doing and having the right positioning has helped me. And especially Rayla [Clemons], like she’s put a lot of pressure on the defense that has allowed me to go and grab the puck and just go,” Foward Victoria Klimek said.
“I think she has been such a leader for our team this year. She just gets out of the zone, and she gets the puck — people are getting it on her stick and she has the breakaway chances, and she just capitalizes on them. So, we look up to her a lot to get those goals for us, and she’s done a great job of doing so,” said forward Lauren Bellefontaine.
Now today marked the 200th win in Syracuse program history — Paul Flanagan has presided over all 200. He and the team go for number 201 on Friday on the road against Penn State. Game time is 6PM.
