On Saturday, Syracuse men’s soccer honored its 1982 team, one of the best teams in school history. It was the 2022 squad that impressed though with a dominant 1-0 win over No. 22 Notre Dame. For head coach Ian McIntyre, he knows this team is off to a great and undefeated start, but there is still work to do.

“That was arguably the best team that we have produced here with some special players and special results. Today was another step on our journey. Our first ACC test and I think that we have been terrific up until this point. We still have a lot of soccer ahead of ourselves, but finding a way to get that result today was important,” state coach McIntyre.

Midfielder Amferny Sinclair added, “Honestly, we are trying to go one game at a time. Obviously it has been a great start to the season. Of course, we planned it like that, and it has been the dream start. We just have to keep going and improving. We had a good game today, but there are still things to improve upon. We will look at those and try to get better by minimizing mistakes.

The Orange dominated possession for all ninety minutes today, closing out another one-goal win. SU outshot the Irish 22-3. Next up for Syracuse is Niagara on Tuesday at 7 p.m. back at the SU Soccer Stadium.
