No. 3 Syracuse Women’s Lacrosse destroyed Cornell 17-4

Some people say it’s not how you start, it’s how you finish. Now that statement might be true, but starting fast definitely helps you out. And that was the case for No. 3 Syracuse Women’s lacrosse. As Su outscored Cornell 11-2 in the first half en route to a 17-4 road victory over The Big Red. After the game head coach Kayla Treanor discussed what exactly went right for SU in the first 30 minutes.

“Yeah I mean, it’s great when Kate was dominating on the draws and then you know we were playing well offensively. I thought Emma Tyrrell was really good offensively. They went to face guard in the second half and they put more pressure on us in the second half. Yeah, just overall I was proud of them because it was cold, wet, and rainy, and they came out and played well right away”.

“Yeah I think we really emphasized pushing the fast break and I think we did a really good job as an offense honestly through the whole game. And even after I came out hot, but I didn’t finish very hot but I think the team really picked up and showed how many threats we have.”

After starting the year 3-3, the Orange have now won seven straight and have 10 wins. Next up for Syracuse is an A-C-C clash with Pitt at CNS High School on Saturday. The opening draw is slated for 4 pm. Reporting from Cornell University in Ithaca New York, Rahill Jaiswal Citrus TV
