No. 7 Florida State Clobbers Syracuse Women’s Soccer 4-0 on Sunday
This afternoon, Florida State made itself at home inside of Syracuse’s 18-yard box. In FSU’s 4-0 win over SU, the Noles peppered the net, recording 21 shots compared to just four for the Orange. It was a display of crisp passing and blistering speed, and it had Syracuse shaking its head all day long.
“I think they’re relentless, right, they just clobber you, and so much pressure goes around you on the ball,” Syracuse head coach Nicky Thrasher Adams said after the shutout loss. “We, on the other hand, were not confident and went away from everything that’s been working for us. I’m not saying that Florida State didn’t make it hard, they made it harder. But that’s when we have to be braver and find a different way to get what we want out of it.
“For the first 45 minutes, we played well. Unfortunately, we did not stick to our identity and focus on the details in the second half. They showed why they’re seventh in the nation,” she added.
Florida State showed every bit of why it’s ranked number seven in the nation. Syracuse proved it just could not hang with one of the big dogs of the ACC today. Fortunately for the Orange, they get some time to catch their breath before their next contest. That comes Saturday night right here at SU Soccer Stadium when Syracuse hosts Virginia at 7:00 pm.
