Syracuse and Florida State split a double header on Friday

The key for Syracuse softball’s last couple of weeks has been its clutch pitching. Lindsey Hendrixs is coming off an ACC pitcher of the week and she followed that up with a complete game today en route to Syracuse’s 4 to 3 game one victory over number 11 Florida State. Afterwards the senior said that it came down to just her Elite level defense

“I mean again it’s so great to have people behind me knowing that like I can make a mistake and they’re going to be there to pick me up every single time. So just being able to rely on them and knowing that like I can get outs like they can get outs, it’s just it helps me it makes me feel a lot better.”

“I mean Lindsey and Madison are best friends right and Lindsey’s a senior um and Madison doesn’t want Lindsay’s season to end and Lindsay doesn’t want her own season to end you know. So I think that there’s a lot of feelings that go involved with that relationship between those two because they are so close um you know and they’re competitive right I think they’re doing a really really good job of just attacking batters mixing speeds um working both sides of the plate.”

While Hendrix saw success in game one Knight saw success in game two except for the second inning. The sophomore gave up three runs in the second frame which was enough for Florida State to walk out with a 3-2 Victory. With the series tied at one a piece the rubber match is tomorrow at 1 and there’s big implications on the line for the winner with Florida State looking to grab a piece of the ACC title and Syracuse looking to get into the ACC tournament.
