Syracuse and Penn State Draw 1-1 in Heated Affair

By: Adam Gotkin
I don’t know if there’s a word in the English dictionary that can describe what went down tonight because crazy isn’t good enough. Bonkers. Insane. None of those can describe the match between Syracuse and Penn State. 88 minutes in the score was nil nil. 13 seconds later, it was one one and that’s how the match ended. Tonight’s game was one of the greatest games that you’ll ever see in college soccer, and even though the Orange couldn’t come out with the win head coach Ian McIntyre was very happy with how his team performed today.
“I do think that we certainly deserve to get something from this game, to come on the road, to play a place like Penn State and play the way we did tonight.” Coach McIntyre said, “I’m very proud of the character and the resilience of the group, but I’d have been very disappointed if we wouldn’t have returned to Syracuse with something from this game.”
“Look, this this kind of game had everything. I thought we create some really good chances for second half. I thought we were terrific up until that moment where, look, it’s they’ve got so much pace in that space in behind us that, you know, the red card changes the game. And but to show the resolve and the resilience to come and get that that tying goal was was very special.”
So if tonight’s match will tell you anything. It’s that Ian McIntyre squad will never back down from a fight. They’ve got another challenge coming up on Monday when UAlbany comes to the 315 for a 7 p.m. kick off at the SU soccer stadium. But for now, reporting from State College, Adam Gotkin, Citrus TV.
