Syracuse Crunch Blank WBS Penguins 1-0

John Dales: The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting a different result. And in tonight’s 1-0 loss to the Syracuse Crunch, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins just about went mad. 48 times they shot the puck on cage, and all 48 times, Syracuse goalie Max Lagace had the answer. After the game, Crunch head coach Ben Groulx gave all the credit in the world to his goaltender.

Groulx: Obviously, the PK starts with your goalie. Max was great, so the PK was great too. The defense and the six forwards that were playing on it were really good tonight.

Lagace: I knew I wanted to come up big for the boys. I know everybody’s tired, so it’s important to show up and try to do my best and obviously it went really well. I mean, the guys played in front of me, a really good game. They boxed out any rebounds and all I had to do was get the first save. So it was a good night for everybody.

JD: The one goal scored tonight came off the stick of Gemel Smith, who had missed the previous seventeen games with injury. So, timely scoring plus all-world goalkeeping added up to another Crunch victory – their second of a two-game homestand over the weekend. Syracuse looks ahead down the stretch in the regular season and the push for the playoffs continues. Reporting from Upstate Medical University Arena, I’m John Dales,Citrus TV.
