Syracuse Field Hockey Takes Care of Business by Dominating Stanford
Anthony Vasquez: The Syracuse Orange marched into J.S. Coyne Stadium and walloped the Stanford Cardinal today 4-0. All of this SU’s goals came on four penalty corners and that’s something Eefke Van Den Nieuwenhof says the team has been working on and it really showed tonight.
Eefke Van Den Nieuwenhof: We really emphasized this week on scoring underscores during practice and I think really stepped it up with just focus from start insert trap and then being able to finish.
Ange Bradley: Char had some really good reads on the corner and created opportunities and Eefke just found a rhythm and smashed balls pretty I can’t wait to see that on video because they were rockets and we’ve been working on them so it was good to see them focus on that.
Van Den Nieuwenhof: We were able to have our ball speed really high and we linked up from back to the middle to the front. So that was why we got into the circuit. I think our forwards really stepped it up with how they were able to shoot on goal and it looked really good today.
Vasquez: The Cuse we’ll try and keep that momentum going into Sunday as the Cornell Big Red come to Jesus coin stadium trying to stop Su’s four-game winning streak. Time will tell though. Penalty corner woes that have been plaguing Syracuse all season will continue or will get better as the ACC tournament and ultimately the NCAA Tournament nears. Reporting from J.S.
