Syracuse Ice Hockey sneaks past RIT 3-2.

An hour and a half separate Syracuse from Rochester, but tonight on the ice, distance wasn’t a problem at all. The stat sheet said it was an even game in terms of shots, blocks, even penalties.

In the end, all that mattered was the score. SU (14-14-3, 10-9-2 in Atlantic Hockey America) took down Rochester (14-16-0, 9-12-0 in Atlantic Hockey America) three to two, scoring in every period.

“Yeah, that was a really important one for us,” said Heather Farrell. “We need to continue to climb in the standings for playoff spots.
So, really good to keep taking the lead and then, find a way at the end with a minute and a half left to score that third one. Big points for us and also for momentum and confidence, heading into tomorrow. It’s hard for us to play at RIT.
So, hopefully this helps give us a little extra jump.

“Honestly, I think we played really well up to the speed,” said Jessica Cheung. I know coming into this game we know we needed those points. So I think we knew what we had to do and we played with the energy that we needed to get it done.”

“On a night where SU needed to win, it did just that. The Orange now leapfrog the Tigers into fourth place in the AHA standings.

Syracuse travels west to kickstart a three-game road stand. Puck drop on Saturday from Rochester is at three.
