SYRACUSE, NY – For Syracuse forward Madison Primeau, scoring against Lindenwood came easy.

The sophomore forward found space in the back of the net three times en route to her first ever career hat trick.

Her offensive firepower led Syracuse (4-7-1, 3-0 College Hockey America) to their third-straight conference win, 4-1, over Lindenwood (0-6, 0-3 CHA). In CHA play this season, the Orange are undefeated after sweeping RIT last weekend.

SU head coach Britni Smith was very pleased with Primeau’s performance, but she just found the right places at the right times.

“Moving her feet and keeping her game simple,” said the first-year head coach about Primeau’s breakout Friday night. “Two of her goals were rebounds, so just getting herself in positions to find those pucks. [She’s] a big strong body, finding those areas to get into on the ice.”

Two of Primeau’s goals were assisted by captain Sarah Thompson, who is happy that Primeau is on her line now. Coach Smith has shuffled the lines throughout the early part of the season, but seems to have settled on a combination that finds success.

“[Madison Primeau] is someone that’s jumped lines a little bit here. We had a good conversation this week about needing depth through our lines,” said Coach Smith after the game. “She’s someone who can add that on the third line and obviously we saw that tonight.”

In a game where she was the main offensive piece for the Orange, Madison Primeau still recognizes team success matters.

“My shot is my strength,” said Primeau. “I just try to use it as much as I can to help out the girls and just [was] lucky today.”

Syracuse is back in action tomorrow. They host the second game of the series against Lindenwood.
