Entering the final game of the regular season, Syracuse women’s soccer wondered if a second ACC win would be in the cards. And well, the Cuse had the deck stacked against them, losing to No. 23 North Carolina 4-2. Despite the loss, head coach Niki Thrasher Adams is still proud of her squad.
“They really committed all seeds every night to their game plans and the culture and really made this year very special. It was one of our tough years. I mean, we had somebody finish with eight goals. I don’t know when the last time that happened was so very special for her. We have players now in our system that want to really take this program to the next level, right? Building a program is not easy, and you really have to continue to find the players of how important it is to fight every single day as high standards possible and this team has been pretty much player-lead since the moment we started in August.”
This is the end of the road for Syracuse as the Orange failed to make the ACC tournament and three of its stars capped off their collegiate careers today. Mia Klammer and Ashley Rauch both had a goal and an assist and goalkeeper Shea Vanderbosch racked up five saves.
