Syracuse Men’s Lacrosse Beats Virginia 18-17 In Front Of A Massive Crowd

There isn’t a place more special to the sport of lacrosse than the dome, with 11 national championship teams and countless legends. It’s a venue that transcends the sport. Today, another chapter in the historic book was written as Syracuse Beat Virginia 18-7 in an instant classic. Fans packed this place with people in the upper deck for the first time in a very long time.
“This place is iconic and it’s the most special venue and calls lacrosse and here and everybody gets loud before that.” Sam English said,  “That possession is pretty cool and being able to put the ball in the net is an unbelievable feeling. And yeah, it was special and I won’t forget it for sure.”
Syracuse goalie Will Mark said, “Without a doubt. It’s the best venue, the best fans, best alumni in college across. Being able to experience it to its full capacity today is, like Sam said, it’s something I’m never going to forget and hopefully tell my children about when I’m older.”
“So there are people that traveled from all over the country, all over Canada, to get here for this game and, you know, it reminds me of Syracuse lacrosse in the old days. So it’s fun.” SU head coach Gary Gait said.
After three overtime losses to top 15 teams earlier in the season, the Orange finally silenced all of the doubters with today’s victory. Syracuse does not know its next opponent yet. They’ll find out next weekend as all of the ACC tournament seeding gets figured out. Syracuse does know that it’ll play on May 3rd down in Charlotte.
