Syracuse Men’s Soccer Falls in ACC Semifinals to North Carolina

After falling behind to nothing in the first half of the ACC semifinals, Syracuse had two options Sit back, accept defeat or fight. If you know anything about the orange this year, then you know that only one of those options was actually possible, and that was that this team was going to fight. And that’s exactly what they did. Just 10 minutes into the second half, Nick Kaloukian sent a header into the back of the net to make it a one goal game.
But just 2 minutes later, Jeorgio Kocevski was sent off with a red card and there was no coming back. Syracuse fell to North Carolina three one today and that red card was the deciding moment.
“I felt that momentum and then the decision to set it for us to go down to play was very difficult.” Coach McIntyre said, “I in fairness, look, it’s got to go back and have a look at it. It’s it changes the game, right? You know, they’ve got we’ve got ourselves back in the game transitional moment. Jeorgio working hard clips the guy and as I said, that it’s difficult to be a referee.”
Well, if there’s any silver lining to tonight’s loss, it’s that Syracuse will now have some extra rest before the national tournament. The Orange will find out their fate on Monday at 1 p.m. when the NCAA selection show goes down. Reporting from the SU Soccer Stadium. Adam Gotkin. Citrus TV.
