Syracuse Men’s Soccer Finishes Preseason with a 4-0 Win Over Marist

Through its three exhibition games, Syracuse Men’s Soccer outscored its opponents 13 to nothing. But for head coach Ian McIntyre tonight’s 4-0 win over Marist, a team that finished last year over 500 was the cherry on top.

“Today’s game was terrific. That’s a good team. Very well coached.” Coach McIntyre said, “You know they’ve got some terrific players and that’s exactly what we needed. We were pushed tonight that the scoreline may have flattered us a little bit but it was a good performance and overall pre-season has been good and now that they, you know, we’ve got we kind of jump up again, and have another big, big test on Thursday.”

“It’s been great. Of course, it’s not just me. It’s the whole goalkeeper unit that’s played.” Jason Smith said, “And they did a fantastic job pushing it, just pushing each other a lot in training. And our awesome goalkeeper, coach Michael Flynn, taking care of us and preparing for what we’re going to see in the weekend. So it’s been a great collective effort and I’m happy to contribute to it.”

So with the pre-season now all wrapped up, the first test of the regular season for the orange is on Thursday. Syracuse hosts Providence at 7 p.m. Make sure to follow @CitrusTVSports on X for everything you need to know.
