SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Atlantic Coast Conference is one of the strongest conferences in Division 1 volleyball, and that showed in Syracuse volleyball’s (11-5, 3-3 ACC) 3-0 loss to No. 6 Stanford on Sunday.
Despite the result, SU head coach Bakeer Ganesharatnam was very pleased with the effort he got from his players.
“It’s not really new for us,” Ganesharatnam said when asked about the team’s fight throughout the match. “It’s part of our DNA.”
“It was not just at the beginning of the sets, it was even more telling when we were down double digits,” Ganesharatnam added. “How do we react in those situations? How [does] our body language look like on the bench? All those are really positive things we can take from this match.”
“I thought the team did a very good job staying in the match all the way through the end and competing,” Ganesharatnam said.
“We were able to find solutions throughout the match,” Ganesharatnam added. “Now, can we do that consistently at this level? That’s something we’ve got to work on.”
“Overall, I thought it was a positive opportunity for us and I think there were some really positive things that happened in this match that we’re going to grow from moving forward,” Ganesharatnam said.
Syracuse is back in action this weekend when it hosts Duke (5-12, 2-4 ACC) on Friday at 6 p.m.
