Syracuse Tennis Drops Third Consecutive Match in 6-1 Defeat to No. 10 Duke

After an impressive 11-1 start to the season Syracuse (11-4, 4-4 Atlantic Coast) has run into a wall, losing its third straight match of the season in a 6-1 defeat to 10th ranked Duke (17-2, 6-1 Atlantic Coast). Head coach Younes Limam highlighted the tendencies the SU has strayed away from since losing momentum last weekend.

“I think we just have to change the mindset and go back to things that have made us successful in the past. I think a lot of it is having that mindset of refusing to lose, imposing your will on your opponents and digging deeper. In order to have a good day you have to have that in every single spot. We can’t afford not showing up in some matches,” said Limam.

One of the few bright spots for Syracuse was Polina Kozyreva getting back on track in singles, winning her match in a super tiebreak. The Orange need other players around her to elevate their game on Sunday. That’s when SU plays its final home match of the season, welcoming the top team in the nation, North Carolina. First serve is scheduled for 10 30 a.m.
