Syracuse Tennis Ends Regular Season with Sweep over Louisville

Dr. Suess once said, “Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile, because it happened.” Today marks Senior Day for Syracuse Tennis, as well as the last match of the regular season. All you can see on everyone’s faces were grins from ear to ear.

S.U. beat Louisville 7-0 for its first win in almost a month. Picking up that W heading into the ACC Tournament was huge for this team, and there’s no one more qualified to tell you that than Head Coach Younes Limam.

“Yeah, just super proud of them how we showed up on the doubles court, and taking that doubles point, and finally seeing the results of the things they’ve been working on for the last couple weeks. Turning two results and carrying that momentum to the singles, I thought Louisville fought back and tried to some motions and really put some pressure on us. But, super proud of how they responded.”

“It gives us confidence to push on to the ACC Tournament,” said grad student Polina Kozyreva. “Maybe, it will even give us enough confidence to win the tournament and go to Nationals.”

With 20 matches played, the regular season is officially over. Syracuse doesn’t know who it has to play next. The ACC Tournament begins April 17th, down in North Carolina.
