February 12th, 2000. That’s the last time Syracuse Tennis squared off against St. Bonaventure, and it ended in a 7-0 SU win. Today, the result was exactly the same. The Orange calmly beat the Bonnies as they now sweep their first three matches for the first time in 40 years. Two newcomers for the Orange, Constance Levivier and Emilie Elde played their first matches for this program. While they were a little nervous to start off, Head Coach Younes Limam said that the team used their comradery to rally around their troops.
“We’re very fortunate that I think that the team really cares about each other on and off the court. They get along extremely well so it makes it a lot easier when they go out and play with each other. So playing for the first time with someone that you haven’t played with can be a little challenging, but they made it look easy.”
“I think she was a little bit nervous before the match. I just communicated with her like normally and she played really well today. I just set her up and she finished really well so we played really well today.”
A quick turnaround gives these players a chance to build chemistry with each other, as Syracuse welcomes Cornell, right here, tomorrow at 11. Last year the Orange beat the Big Red 6-1 and now they have a chance to do it again.
