Syracuse Volleyball Swept by Boston College in Last Match of Taxing Stretch

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – It’s been quite the week for Syracuse volleyball (13-7, 5-5 Atlantic Coast Conference). The Orange had a quick turnaround from last weekend when they had to head up to Boston College (15-7, 4-6 ACC) on Wednesday night for a grueling five-set match that they ended up winning.
Friday night did not go SU’s way. The Orange did not have the gas as the Eagles took care of business in a 3-0 sweep.
“It’s tough,” Ganesharatnam said. “People are going to say ‘Well, BC is in the same boat.’ Not really. I think the team that has to go on the road first has the disadvantage. And BC would agree with that if the tables [were] turned.”
“The Wednesday-Friday turnaround is too quick,” Ganesharatnam said. “We have to find a solution to play Wednesday-Saturday, or…Wednesday-Sunday. I don’t think it’s fair to our student athletes’ health and we’ve got to find a better way to protect them.”
“We traveled a lot this week, but we’re not going to use that as an excuse,” SU team captain Tehya Maeva said. “Everyone travels a lot. That’s just the schedule sometimes. We just have to move forward and think about the next game and what we can improve on.”
Syracuse has a full week off before it heads down south to take on Florida State (10-8, 4-5 ACC) on Halloween night at 6 p.m.
