Syracuse Women’s Ice Hockey Loses in Overtime 4-3 to Robert Morris

In the second period between Syracuse women’s ice hockey and Robert Morris, the SU fans sitting in these seats were silent as their team trailed 3-1 heading into the third period. A spirited comeback by the Orange and a last-minute snipe by forward Kambel Beacom brought the SU fans out of their seats and cheering heading into overtime. But that extra frame of action is where Syracuse ultimately fell for three. Despite the overtime loss, the senior forward said that she was happy to finally score her first career goal.

“Yeah, I mean it was pretty special to me,” Beacom said. “It’s been a few years coming. A lot of hard work has been put in behind that, but I mean it stung a little bit to not get the win out of that, so I’m excited to come back tomorrow.”

It’s great to see Cam’s a fantastic teammate,” said Head Coach Britni Smith. “I think you could probably tell. The bench was obviously excited because we tied up to get back into it there, but a huge piece of it was because of the person who put it in the back of the net, and I think that says a lot about her, her character, and what she means to this team.”

The Orange don’t have to wait long to get revenge against this Colonial’s squad. The same two teams play here tomorrow at 2 o’clock.
