Syracuse Women’s Soccer’s Pauline Machtens brings Pro Experience to the Table

Pauline Machtens is a midfielder for Syracuse Women’s Soccer. There is a unique reason for her being recruited to SU.
She’s already played professionally for her hometown team of Bayern Leverkusen. She’s also represented her country, Germany, in the U-20 Women’s World Cup just last month. Machtens loved that experience.
“It was a really great experience. Costa Rica is a great country. Its great playing at such a high level, and compete with the best girls in the world.”
She came all the way to Syracuse for good reason though.
“I wanted to try something new. All of my friends also went to college in the U.S. I just tried to shoot a shot, and it worked out,” said Machtens
Coach Nicky Adam’s says the professional experience adds to this team.
“She was our most professional freshman we’ve ever had. She brings this leadership presence as a youngster to our program. She’s a fantastic player. She calms us down, makes really good decisions, and she’s the ultimate teammate,” said Adams
Syracuse is excited to have Machtens for over 2 more years.
