Syracuse’s Offense Struggles in 71-60 loss to Kansas

It feels a little crazy to call the sixth game of the season a must-win, but it was close to that for Syracuse today. After a heartbreaking loss yesterday to number three Houston, the Orange needed a victory, with the rest of the non-conference schedule not giving many opportunities for quality wins. The Orange offense, though did not show up, mustering a season low 60 points and an 11-point loss to the Jay-Hawks. But if you ask Adrian Autry, the offense wasn’t an issue today.

“You know, for me, it’s not about the offense. Um I think um it’s really about um us energy on both ends of the floor,  you know, moving the ball, sharing. I thought we got good shots. We didn’t make them.” Syracuse Head Coach Adrian Autry.

“They just switched and they got a they’re a pretty big team, so when they switch, it’s just like we got to be more aggressive. And I feel like we kind of got to taken out of our things because of them switching.” Syracuse Guard Nait George.

“Well, I actually thought we guarded them well. I thought our ball screen defense was good the first half and then we switched up the second half and switched everything, but I thought it was actually pretty good. Uh uh, they didn’t shoot it well, which we were fortunate because the the good looks they got, you know, they didn’t they didn’t make a real good percentage.” Kansas Head Coach Bill Self.

Syracuse will have to be better on offense if it wants to pick up a win before it heads home from Vegas. The thing is though, the Orange don’t know who they’re going to face yet. We’ll have to wait until the end of the night tonight, probably around 1 or 2:00 a.m.  Eastern, until Syracuse finds out its next opponent once the last game wraps up here at the Players Era. But for now, from the MGM Grand Garden Arena, I’m Adam Gotkin, Citrus TV.
