Tyrrell Sisters Shine vs. Temple in 22-7 Syracuse Win
IAN: “You know what’s better than one player scoring eight or more points in a win? Two of them scoring eight or more. And when they’re sisters well, even more fun. Meaghan and Emma Tyrrell combined to score 10 goals and 18 points in today’s 22-7 demolition over Temple. After the game, Coach Kayla Treanor made sure to tell everyone that although both of their skill sets are fantastic, they are completely different players.”
Kayla Treanor: “They do things that are exceptional. You know, Emma, I think it’s her athleticism which is impossible to stop. Meaghan is just this incredible finisher and passer. I think you really saw her passing on display today. Seeing plays that a lot of players have trouble to see.”
Meaghan Tyrrell: “As far as distributing the ball, you know, we consider everyone a threat. So having seven threats on the field is huge. So being able to make those passes, you know, feel confident in your teammates to sure is huge. Having those opportunities for yourself, then come and go obviously. But, definitely was a goal of ours to have a team win today.”
Emma Tyrrell: “Our biggest point we were making right before the game was to make it a full 60-minute team game. And I think that’s exactly what we did so that’s awesome. And the week off gave us a lot of time to build some chemistry.”
IAN: “A big reason why the Tyrrells were able to control this game is because Kate Mashewske dominated this very draw circle, with a career-high 14 draw controls. She has 25 over her last two games. She’ll look to stay hot on Tuesday night up against Loyola, the seventh-best team in the country, with an undefeated 4-0 record against ranked competition.
