Volleyball Snaps Four-Match Losing Streak Against Virginia
Syracuse, N.Y. – On Sunday, it looked as though Syracuse Volleyball was going to cruise to a straight-set victory over Virginia.
The Orange cruised to a 2-0 set lead after winning the second game by a margin of 25-11.
That’s when things started to falter for SU. Syracuse dropped the third set, and trailed 20-17 in the fourth set.
That’s when the Orange’s Head Coach Bakeer Ganesharatnam called timeout and talked things over with his team. Coming out of the break, SU went on an 8-2 run, which gave them the fourth-set victory and the match.
“At the end, it came down to who wanted it more,” said Coach Ganesharatnam after the game. “It means a lot. It goes back to the character and DNA of this team. They could have taken the easy way out.”
Sunday’s win snaps Syracuse’s four-match losing streak. However, it will be tough for SU. The Orange now have to play #7 Pittsburgh on the road. The match is on Friday at 7 p.m.
