Syracuse, N.Y. – Its been nearly a month since Syracuse last won a dual. Today, that streak continued as SU fell 1-6 to Wake Forest for its fourth straight loss of the season.

The only bright spot for Syracuse was the play of Miranda Ramirez. She suffered six straight losses coming into the matchup with the Demon Deacons. However, she was the only SU player to win their singles matchup this season. This came in the No.4 match.

In terms of doubles, Wake Forest handled Syracuse easily. In the No.1 doubles, the Demon Decons’ Carolyn Campana and Eliza Omirou defeated Polina Kozyreva and Sofya Treshcheva 6-3. Later on, in the No. 3 doubles Anna Campana and Peyton Pesavento defeated Guzal Yusupova and Miranda Ramirez 7-5 to clinch the point for Wake Forest.

In singles play, with the exception of Miranda Ramirez, Syracuse fell flat. Carolyn Campana defeated Viktoriya Kanapatskaya 7-5, 7-6 in the No.1 singles. That was followed by a straight-set victory over Polina Kozyreva 6-3 by Cassie Wooten. The win was then clinched after Anna Brylin took care of business against Natalie Novotna.

The rest of the matches were more of the same. Guzal Yusopova fell 6-2, 6-2 and Sofya Treshcheva fell 6-1, 4-6, 6-1. Overall, SU suffered one of its biggest defeats of the season.

Next up for the ‘Cuse is another top-25 battle. This time, against #12 NC State on Sunday.
