Syracuse Blue-Orange Game Sees One Quarterback Break Out

Remember the name Justin Lamson. The freshman quarterback came into tonight’s Spring game relatively unknown, but he balled out tonight. Two touchdowns in the first half, including a 75 yard bomb, helped propel Team Blue to a 28-7 victory over Team Orange. After the game, Dino Babers said Lamson’s performance was solid, but tough to evaluate.

(DINO) “They moved the chains, they did some things, they did some good things and bad things, it’s hard to evaluate quarterbacks without going back and watching every little thing, but the ball moved for a little bit, I was happy with what they did. When you come in early, you’re giving yourself a chance, and if you’re doing something like Justin did last year, if you come in early and you don’t make it, that next year in January when you’ve been here a whole year, you carry yourself totally different than those other guys, so it’s a good thing. He’s been around for awhile, so he understands the players, he has a better understanding of the personnel, he’s doing a really good job, especially for a young kid.”

Well Lamson’s performance wasn’t the only one that stood out today. How about the secondary? Three interceptions on the day. But that was just a sample size of what Syracuse can do. We’ve got to wait five months to see the full show, as Syracuse takes on Louisville in its regular season opener in this very building.
