ITHACA, N.Y. – Today was a historic one for Syracuse Softball as Lindsey Hendrix threw the second no-hitter of the season for the Orange; the first time in program history two different pitchers have thrown no-hitters in the same season. That was in game two for the ‘Cuse. In game one, Syracuse dominated as well.

With Madison Knight dealing on the mound, the Syracuse offense got started in the 2nd inning as Taylor Posner hit a two-RBI double. Knight then helped herself out in the 4th inning with an RBI single to bring home Angel Jasso. Ryan Starr had an RBI triple and Olivia Pess hit a solo home run to round out the scoring for the ‘Cuse in game one. Madison Knight threw a complete game, giving up just three hits on two walks and nine strikeouts. Knight has now thrown six or more strikeouts in each of her last four starts.

Game two was of course, the Lindsey Hendrix show. That doesn’t mean the offense was quiet though. Madelyn Lopez got things going bringing home a run on a bunt. Madison Knight had three RBIs in the game without recording a base hit. Jude Padilla hit a home run and Tessa Galipeau hit an RBI single to get the Orange to six runs.
Hendrix walked just two batters in her no-hitter. Innings two through seven were all completed with just three Cornell batters heading to the plate.

Hendrix and the Orange hope to keep their momentum alive as they return home this weekend to face Virginia. The three-game series gets underway on Friday at 3 p.m. The team must win these games if they want to make the ACC tournament. Right now, Syracuse is in 11th place in the conference. The top ten teams make it to the tournament.
